Blessed Assurance should be the foundation of every believer’s walk of faith. So many believers in Jesus are still so unsure of their future after this life. Jesus is the guarantee to eternal life and that fact will never change. To put your faith in facts rather than feelings is like taking your first breath as a believer. Our feelings can change, but the Bible never changes.

Faithfulness

Module 1.2

The word “faithfulness” itself occurs relatively few times in the Bible. In the King James Version it is found only nineteen times, and then only in the old testament — mostly in the Psalms. The New King James translation uses it more often, including a couple of places in the new testament. But the concept is a very important one and is a strong theme throughout Scripture. Other words like “steadfast” and “faithful” help us to understand the subject.

How to study the Bible

As fellow students of the Word we would like to provide some guidelines for effective Bible study in these notes. Our desire is that this time of Bible study will be fruitful and help you to become all that God created you to be. The Word of God is rich and powerful, and when we make the most of it, we will be changed!

Obedience – The Key to Life

Module 1.4

Obedience is to submit. Every person on the earth is subject to authority. God placed different authorities above us, and we have to submit to them all. We have authority in the family, in marriage, at work, in the church and civil authorities. God put them there to ordain our lives and to protect us and those around us.

Understanding Purpose

Module 1.5

God created everyone of us with a purpose. Nobody came to the earth by mistake – we were known by God before the foundation of the earth. We came at the right time to the right place with the right equipment to do the will of God. God prepared those good works beforehand that we should walk in them!

The Word of God

Module 1.6

Some of the things that we will find in the seed of the Word are peace, joy, healing, salvation, faith, financial blessings, wisdom, good relationships and families, marriages, holiness, fulfilment, excellence, power, a sound mind, righteousness, and so on. Joy rises up inside of us when we hear the gospel. The gospel is good news, it tells us that we don’t have to be sick, that we don’t have to be miserable, that we don’t have to be broke. It tells us that we can have good things, and so joy rises up inside of use when we hear the Word of God.

Growing Up Spiritually

Growing up spiritually is much like growing up in the natural ‐ it is a long process that may at times be painful. Although giving birth in the natural may be a very intense experience, raising those children is much more prolonged and demanding. It takes only a few hours to be born, but years for us to grow to maturity. Growing up spiritually is no different.

The Local Church

Module 1.9

Many people attend church, are faithful at it, but yet something is lacking. It may be that they are not fulfilling the ministry God has for them. When we consider ministry it does not necessarily mean being a pastor or evangelist. We are not all preachers of the Word, but we all are ministers (servants) of the Word. The ministry involves the fivefold ministry gifts (Eph. 4:11) as well as helps ministries.

The Threefold Being of Man

In order for us to better understand the redemptive work of Christ, the spiritual aspects of our beings, the Word of God and spiritual matters in general, we need to understand how we were put together and how we operate in this world.

We differ from animals in the sense that we are spirit‐beings, while animals have a soul but no spirit. We did not evolve from apes or other creatures, as many scientists try to make us believe ‐ we were made in the image of God and since God is Spirit, we must accept the fact that we are, first of all, spirit‐ beings too.

Understanding Faith

Faith is believing God will work; it is believing the intangible Word of God is true, even when tangible, physical circumstances seem to indicate otherwise.

Hebrews 11:1 AMP Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

The Fruit of the Spirit

Although we know the truth of the Word concerning many things, we need to be reminded of the basics of the Christian life often.

God’s desire for our lives is to be complete, whole, blameless ‐ perfect.

I Thessalonians 5:23‐24NKJV Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.

It is God’s will for us to be perfect, and He stands behind us to perform it in our lives. God wants us to be perfect, which means He wants us to grow to maturity, but it doesn’t happen automatically.]

Understanding Righteousness

Module 2.1

Understanding the difference between self-righteousness and the righteousness of God is very important. Righteousness is the ability to stand in the presence of a holy God without the sense of guilt or inferiority. Spiritually dead man cannot stand in God’s presence. Righteousness is also the ability to stand in the presence of our accuser, the devil, without the sense of guilt or inferiority.

The Blood Covenant

A covenant is a treaty or an alliance between two individuals with conditions and obligations that bind the two parties together as one. Abraham made a covenant with Abimelech of the Philistines in Genesis 21:22‐34. The ewes he gave Abimelech were the memorial of that covenant: as the flock grew, it would serve as a continual reminder of the covenant that had been cut between them.

The spiritual world is a real place; even more real than the natural, visible world that we live in; because the natural world is temporary while the spiritual world is eternal. The spiritual world is the dwelling place of spirit‐beings. God the Father, the Holy Spirit and angels are all spirit‐beings, and so are the devil and his demons. They are beings without natural bodies like ours. Our bodies give us the right to live on earth as natural beings ‐ it is our earth‐suit; our passport to life on this earth.

Since the spiritual world is more real and of greater power than the natural world, it can influence events and people on the earth. Spirit ‐beings use their supernatural power to accomplish their goals on the earth ‐ whether evil or godly.

In this course we will study the operations of demons ‐ evil spirits under the command of Satan.

The Authority of the Believer

Module 2.8

The value of our authority lies in the fact that it rests on the power that is behind that authority – God Himself is the power behind that authority. Authority is delegated power.

A simple illustration is this of a policeman who directs traffic. He does not have any exceptional physical power that enables him to raise his hand and have the drivers stop or turn away. He has been invested with authority by the government he serves. People recognize that authority and obey his directions.

Fivefold Ministry Gifts

Module 2.9

When Jesus left the earth to take up His present-day ministry at the right hand of the Father, He gave some gifts to the church to minister to the saints. The purpose of these ministry gifts is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry, and to edify them with spiritual food, which is the Word of God.

These gifts came from heaven, from the throne of God, from the hand of the risen Christ. We know that the giving of a gift is the prerogative of the giver, and we must accept those gifts as the personal choice of the Lord for our own benefit.
